Inside Outside Between Beyond is an exhibition, featuring five models and a short story at SFMOMA. The focus of this exhibition is on tall buildings as characters in the city.
In this exhibition, five tall buildings are proposed to experiment with new diagrams typologically. Can tall buildings be like kebabs, where units are skewered on thin cores? Or, can cores be so thick that the net-to-gross ratio favors the common back-of-house spaces? Can slabs be enhanced to contain built-in occupiable layers? By transforming the diagram of tall buildings, each building became characters on a stage.
Three of the five models were entered into the permanent collection of SFMOMA.
