Speechbuster / I got 99 Chairs (and a table ain’t 1) is an outdoor furniture project in collaboration with artist Grayson Cox, with the support of the Rauschenberg Foundation for the Storefront For Art and Architecture. This project was fabricated by Rives Rash.
The trapezoidal volume of the Storefront of Art and Architecture is scaled and exploded into a 3D jigsaw puzzle of benches, chairs and loungers. The idea of this project is to seat up to 99 people in one setting. As a puzzle, the rainbow gradient becomes a means to register the placement of the pieces when they are put back together.
This project was first exhibited at the IDEAS CITY 2015: Rivington Migrations.
