The Terrazzo Palazzo is an indoor installation at 213 Messe Basel, as well as a proof of concept for a material product for Swarovski. What if some of the Swarovski crystals are embedded inside of terrazzo? With this in mind, we helped develop this new line of products for Swarovski.
As a part of the 2017 Designers of the Future Award, we worked with Swarovski to study the possibilities of applying their crystal technology to the scale of buildings. In this instance, we looked at the unused crystals that are filtered through the high production standards of Swarovski, and up-cycled them into high-end terrazzo. Working with Dzekdzekdzek, the terrazzo sparkled against the solar light of Marjan van Aubel, as well as the 3D-printed glass by TAKT.
